This California couple from Santa Ynez Valley met in third grade, were each other's dates to dances in fifth grade, began their relationship in college, and were engaged 8 months later. J proposed in 2019 in the Mojave Desert on a trip to Joshua Tree. They knew they wanted their wedding to be at a destination that felt calm and far from our busy world. K+J chose Dunton Hot Springs in the lush San Juan Mountains of Southwest Colorado because 'it was so us.' They live a Western lifestyle with horses and knife-making so this restored and elegantly updated 1800's mining town turned luxury Relais + Chateaux resort was the perfect fit.
Their wedding decor was an ode to the sense of place at Dunton Hot Springs and the American West with handmade leather place cards, Native symbols representing each guest's personality, and vintage Navajo rugs that influenced the color scheme. K+J thoughtfully and intentionally incorporated their love for nature into their wedding day with subtle, warm, organic elements to make for a beautiful design that made their guests feel at home.
"The scenery at Dunton was unreal, having all of our closest loved ones there plus our dogs watching us say our vows was magic." - K
